Greenella- Short Fuse/Gift of Not Giving 7"

So I've decided to start ripping 7"s that aren't available as downloads on the internet. This is pretty much going to be a bunch of random 90s shit that I've picked up randomly through trades/whatever. Expect awful quality because I don't care/I can't figure out how to make it better (lazy).

First off is Greenella, a 90s emo band from Denton, TX that gives me a Jawbreaker vibe. I got this record for free from a dude I bought the Radio Flyer LP from, and to my surprise it's not half bad. This came out on the Texas label Rise Records, but due to the incredibly shitty Oregon (?) Rise Records, who put out such great bands as Attack Attack!, finding information on this label/band is impossible. I'll upload the cover/inserts sometime in my life and I'll edit the post with them then. Until then, enjoy the tunes you otherwise would've never heard.

It's Summer! It's Pop-Punk! Pt. 1

Well, I decided not to post for a whole month, mostly because I'm a prick. But not like anyone gave a fuck. Somehow the Kolya- Demo upload is already down and I'm already reuploading it, so you guys fucking suck.

Step 2: Here's all the fun shit to drive and listen to during the summer, and yes, download every single thing. It's been known that most pop-punk nowadays is a complete pile of horseshit (dear jesus at most of this shit), but hey, good shit still is around.

1. Sore Loser:
90s Pop-Punk band from Houston, TX. They could end up being my most listened to band through the summer. I have to thank the dudes on VLV that uploaded the 7"s and the Full-Length.

All the 7"s from Sore Loser:

Sore Loser- Is Out to Save the World

2. The John Sparrow- Demo CDr
Another 90s band from Houston, TX. A dude from Sore Loser is on Guitar/Vocals. Yet again, thanks to the dude at VLV who uploaded this.

Demo CDr

3. Dig Dug- Pop-Trio of the Week
A 3rd 90s band from Houston, TX that put out some fantastic pop-punk. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this band also shared a member with Sore Loser.

Pop-Trio of the Week

4. New Creases
I've posted this band on here before, but now that they have more shit out, it's time to post it again. Female vocalist and just a really fucking great band to roll down the windows and jam the fuck out of to.

New Creases/It Good Split

I was actually planning on doing one whole big post, but I don't have that sort of attention span, so I'll do this in short bursts.

Kolya- Demo

I wanted to keep this to myself and be super indie and shit and never upload it, but some asshole decided to request it and I just can't deny shit to people.

So here it is, Kolya's Demo. It contains the two tracks from the Moganono 7" (Conversations with Smokescreens/The Story Becomes the Vehicle) and also 3 other tracks that never appeared on anything else. If you've read this blog it's high time you know who Kolya is.

If you don't, figure out who Kolya is. Download the full length and the 7"s, and be blown the motherfuck away.

Begrime Exemious- Impending Funeral of Man

More awesome shit from Canada. Begrime Exemious play some blackened death or some shit or whatever and it slays. The only reason I downloaded them was because they listed Arghoslent as an influence, but they don't sound like them that much whatever I just keep on going because fuck you. Plus look at that dude all the way on the right, he's ready to smash some assholes head in just for existing.

Kills the poser faggots.

New Creases- S/T EP

Do you like Jawbreaker? Do you like Lifetime? Do you like it when women play instruments and sing and it actually works?

Well, I've got a band for you guys. New Creases, hailing from Ohio, are a band that fits all 3 of the above questions, and they do it damn well. Also, their cover of The Boat Dreams from the Hill is really awesome.

I'm looking forward to more shit from these guys in the future.

The Newfound Interest in Connecticut- Tell Me About The Long, Dark Path Home

Now now now, I know what you guys are thinking. 'Hey Snacky, didn't you post this 2 times already?"

Well, the answer is yes. The answer is also start downloading it you fucking queers, I'm tired of reuploading it.

How To Beat a Dead Horse- Demo

I bought a few cds from this one guy a couple weeks ago, and this was one of them. The main reason I bought this is because next to the cd it said ex-CTTS. Naturally being interested, I decided to buy it since you know, CTTS (Circle Takes the Square, cmon) isn't ever going to release new material ever again.

Popped it in and fuck me this is really good. Pretty much in line with the whole emo-violence etc. screamo bullshit, it puts its head above the rest by actually not sounding like the rest of the bands who try and pull off this sound (Orchid, etc.)

download and enjoy the jams

ps: this probably doesn't have the track list
1. Storybook Ending
2. This Fine Print
3. When Doctors Need Their Own Medicine
4. White Mice
5. Line and Latitude
6. At This Time We Cannot Discuss Your Future Demise
7. Liars Make Great Actors
8. Jim Light's Dim Afternoon

Akitsa- Au crépuscule de l'espérance

Newest Akitsa album filled with raw, crushing and straight up filthy black metal tunes.
It's from Canada, you know it's cold as shit.

Upsilon Acrux- Galapagos Mountain

Probably one of the last of those "math-rock" albums I still listen to on a semi-regular basis, Upsilon Acrux kick some major ass. They call themselves brutal prog because they can. There isn't much to write on about this band, besides they write some absolute jams. They also have a song on this album called Touched By God (Inappropriately). That should be enough to warrant at least one listen FROM YOUR PATHETIC, PUNY HUMAN BODY

Red 40- Complete Discography

So, about a long time ago, I had the full discography, but I lost the track "Wish I Was a Racecar Driver." This fucking pissed me off like no tomorrow, because well, I wanted to share Red 40, but can't without a full discography, and the track really rules.

Well today, totally neglecting whatever was going on in my Western Civilization class, I found the fucking elusive link. It took long enough, but here it is, the Red 40 discography. Red 40 was Ben Nichols' old band (he's in Lucero now) and Red 40 is up there for one of my favorites from the 90s. Fucking awesome Jawbreaker-esque tunes.

Managra- Modern Day Rememberance

Managra was an early 90s band from the MI scene that was pretty much forgotten except for a handful of bands (Ordination of Aaron, Broken Hearts are Blue). It's some fucked up combination of post-hardcore and 90s emotional hardcore, and it totally brings the awesome, awesome pain.

Spazzy instruments n' stuff, yo.

Quest for Quintana Roo- Collected Works

So this is like finding a giant box of porn in the woods when you were a little kid, except better. Somehow this completely flew under my fucking radar, and apparently 6 months or so ago, a dude from Quest for Quintana Roo uploaded EVERYTHING THEY EVER FUCKING DID. Seriously this is one the happiest things I've found in a long fucking time.

Quest for Quintana Roo played pretty much some of the best emotional hardcore that side of the Mississippi (pretty sure they were from Oakland, and this side of the Mississippi would be the east coast for me). They pretty much nail everything right on the point with shit I love.

They're on of my favorites, and they deserve your ears. If you're too busy being a cry baby bitch to download it, at least listen to the song Statement to the Statesmen and tell me that it doesn't rule. FUCKING TELL ME IT DOESNT RULE.

Past Lives- Tapestry of Webs

New Past Lives album. I enjoyed the EP a little bit, but the second half of this album has the jams. First part of the album may be just alright, but the second half of the album has some serious jams. I repeated myself, I know. Fuck you judge someone else.

It's also good to note that Jaguar Love is a steaming pile of shit.

Ten Grand- This is the Way to Rule

Ten Grand got hooked on Fugazi and created a post-hardcore classic.

Seriously, for whatever reason people still don't know about this band. This is the band that will get fucking high regards in the future once people realize just how good they are.

This album is a lot different than their previous two lps, The Comprehensive List and Our Miracle Point of Contact. It contains almost no screamed vocals at all, although the dual vocals are as good as ever.

download it, ya queers

Castevet- The Echo & The Light

Slept on Castevet, being an idiot? It happens from time to time, and it sucks. But fear not, missing out on bands with such a magnitude of awesome can occur many times in your life, but it can be fixed.

Enter Castevet, a band that does the midwestern twinky twanky guitars, with a little bit of shouted vocals, think Braid (not the guitar part). So, their new EP that was supposed to be released actually got pushed back to May (with 2 new songs on it and a 12" release!) but it leaked, and for all of our enjoyment.

Seriously, stop sleeping and start listening to Castevet, or be a failure.

Man in the Shadow- Discography

Crazy good emotive hardcore/screamo/whatever band from Solvenia. I feel pretty lucky to stumble upon this band, as they fucking shred hard and have some awesome songs. The recording is raw, gritty, and makes their discography just that much fucking better. Band reminds me of something straight out of the 80s emotive hardcore shit.

They also seem to have a hint of crust/bm in their sound. Although the bm thing is only on one song.

it rules, you need.

Pretend- Bones in the Soil, Rust in the Oil

Holy balls, two posts in one day?! I can barely seem to post shit once a week, but I'm feeling crazy tonight.

Onwards to something I downloaded randomly because, fuck, I can download it. Actually it was compared to toe, and I'm not sure if the comparison was to the American post-rock band (whom I've never heard), or the Japanese one (whom rules). I can't really see many connections between this and the Japanese one, so I'll have to go with it was connected to the American one.

Either way, it's a really long album, over an hour. But I have to say, this has not gotten stale at one point in a full listen. It's really relaxing, and really good. Math-rocky double tapping instruments over a small crashing of drums make this album incredibly. There's vocals from time to time but I rarely pay attention to them as the instrumentation is pretty awesome.

As you can see, I haven't made some dicky little point about how you're wrong if I don't like it, which means that maybe I should at this point. Or maybe not, just download it, relax, and enjoy.

Kolya- Kolya

This is where it's fucking at, and I don't know why it took me so long to post this. Probably because I'm too lazy to upload stuff or look for links. Kolya have pretty much become one of my favorite bands of all time, and if you don't like it I'll find you and kick your teeth in. People aren't allowed to have opinions when facts like 'Kolya was one of the best bands of the 90s' exists.

Being that they fucking ruled, they were completely underrated. It was probably due to the fact that they were a 3 piece that could write some awesome jams. Somnambulism is one hell of the song but the chorus to Idaho is so goddamn catchy.

THIS IS WHERE I-DA-HOOOO BEEEGINNSSSSS

also, if you have their LP, 2nd 7" (conversations and smokescreens/the story becomes the vehicle), sell it to me.

Kid Dynamite- Shorter, Faster, Louder

But onto the point, who seriously doesn't enjoy some Kid Dynamite? Wimpy, little homos, that's who.

Six Organs of Admittance- Luminous Night

So it's winter, it won't fucking stop snowing, and last nights storm destroyed my god damn igloo. I hate the snow now. In other news, I'm thinking of building a super igloo palace in my front yard, with connections running across the whole yard. It'll be fucking magnificent, King Xerxes the Great magnificent.

ALL THE SNOW CREATURES WILL BOW TO MY FEARFUL ROAR.

Or hey, you're snowed in and really bored and looking for some chill music to waste your day to, maybe that one.

Nosaj Thing- Drift

Normally I'm not that big of a fan of the instrumental hip-hop/electronica shit, but this album manages to not suck bags of robot dicks. (see what i did there? you probably don't since you're not reading this or you're an idiot).

But seriously, the atmosphere on this album is phenomenal.

Ten Grand- The Comprehensive List of Everyone Who Has Ever Done Anything Wrong to Us

You guys ready for a bold statement? Emotive hardcore would be a lot more mainstream today if Matt Davis didn't die.

Seriously.

This album is fucking incredibly, probably the finest piece of work that The Vidablue/Ten Grand put out (they changed their name from the first one to Ten Grand because a shitty jam band with members of Phish wanted the name for guess it... 10 grand). It includes everything you'll ever want, a computer voice listing people who have wronged the band (from The Get Up Kids to that asshole who stole Scott Lawerncson's Playstation!), to some really fantastic vocals from Matt Davis.

Sadly, Matt Davis died after suffering from an aneurysm at the age of 24, stoping this band from ever reaching it's true potential.

p.s.: anyone how has their album 'What I Should Have Said Volume One', be a bro and get it to me.

Oops

Haven't posted since December 10th, I have shit in my life to figure out, etc. This blog isn't about my whiny problems though, so welcome to a large post of shit I should've (re)posted.

The Newfound Interest in Connecticut- Tell Me About the Long, Dark Path Home

All I can say is that this is definitely recommended. Download or miss out.

toe- For Long Tomorrow
Probably the best album of 2009, but Kidcrash released an album in 2009, so ya know.

And So I Watch You From Afar- And So I Watch You From Afar

It's a really big download, deal with it

Fugazi- In On the Killtaker
The best Fugazi album. That's right, the best.

And yea, that's really all I care about to post right now. Go crazy and have fun and hate 2010.
